Privacy policy

Information collected by Groove Juice Swing from visitors to our website or from their computers will remain private and confidential. Groove Juice Swing may collect phone numbers, email addresses, or mailing address information from visitors, but that information will never be used for any purpose other than distribution of information to those visitors about Groove Juice Swing, our classes and events, or a visitor's registration for those classes and events.

Groove Juice Swing will never release any personal information submitted from a website visitor to any outside party, nor will we distribute any submitted email addresses to any outside organization or group. Should Groove Juice Swing be requested to release any information collected from a visitor to our website, that visitor will be notified and the decision to forward addresses or information will lie in his or her hands.

If a visitor registers for a Groove Juice Swing class or event via our website, we will require that visitor to supply an email address for our records and for distribution of class notices and special announcements. This includes a verification of the visitor's registration as well as any welcoming messages that we may have for our future students.

Safety policy

Lindy Hop is an athletic, high-paced style of dance, often involving acrobatic displays. For safety, Groove Juice Swing prohibits execution of air-steps, flips, other acrobatic maneuvers during its classes and events.

Class and event attendees assume all responsibility and liability for any injuries they might suffer or cause during, and/or as a result of their participation in Groove Juice Swing events. Groove Juice Swing does not assume responsibility for injury to attendees' due to their personal behavior.

Class policies

The refund, retake and referral policies below apply only to weekly Groove Juice Swing class sessions, and do not apply to workshop events such as Northeast Girl Jam, Stompology, or Steven & Virginie in Rochester.

Our refund policy

Refunds on class registrations may be issued at the instructors' discretion before the start of the first class. Refunds for online payments will only be considered up to 30 days after payment is received. Contact us at info@groovejuiceswing.com for clarification or questions.

Our retake policy

In the interest of providing the best dance education possible to its students, Groove Juice Swing's policy is to allow students to retake any Level 1or 2 class (i.e., Swing Basics, Swing Expansion, Fundamentals of Lindy Hop, and Lindy Hop Essentials) at 1/2 normal price at any time.

To be eligible for any discount, students must have taken and completed a full session in the specified class, in whichever role they plan to retake that class. Leaders planning to retake the class as followers (and vice versa) are expected to register and pay for the class normally.

Should a student decide to retake an intro level class, he or she has two options for registration:

Mail-in registration: Students should print out and mail in the registration form as is the normal procedure. Do not include payment; in the "additional info" section at the bottom of the form the student should include a note indicating that he or she is retaking the class. Any balance will be collected at the door.
Online registration: Students should follow the link for online registration, complete the online form and "Submit" as is the normal procedure. Do not continue to the payment procedure via PayPal; the student should send an email to info@groovejuiceswing.com after registering to indicate that he or she is retaking the class. Any balance will be collected at the door.

Students should be aware that first-time, full-paying students are the group's priority. In the eventuality of students needing individual attention from teachers, whether inside or outside of class, paying students will be given first priority before any student taking advantage of the retake policy.

Although there is no official policy that limits the number of times a student may retake a certain class, the group may decide to deny a student the retake opportunity if it feels the student will not be able to gain any additional experience from the class.

Our refer-a-friend policy

We are always excited to have new students. Groove Juice Swing offers a discount to students who sign up a friend and "spread the love".

Any student who refers another will receive a $5 discount off the price of any one class session. We can only offer this discount once per student per class session; there are no additional discounts for referring multiple friends.

To be eligible, a student (and the student's friend) must make it known at the time of registration that he/she is taking advantage of this policy, and both must be registering for a scheduled upcoming class session. There are two options for doing this:

In the "additional info" section at the bottom of the form the student should include a note indicating the name of the friend that he or she is referring, and submit the modified payment amount.
Online registration: Students should follow the link for online registration, complete the online form and "Submit" as is the normal procedure. Do not continue to the payment procedure via PayPal; the student should send an email to info@groovejuiceswing.com after registering to indicate the name of the friend that he or she is referring. Groove Juice Swing will contact those students registering in this manner with payment instructions.
