We're taking a break from regular 4-week classes during the busy month of December, but check out the special dances happening this month and keep an eye out for special drop-in classes!

Events:

Lindy Jam at Butapub, 12/13: Join us for Lindy Jam at Butapub! Free Lindy Hop crash course at 9pm, dancing from 8:45-11pm. Admission is $5, or free if it's your first time or you bring a first-timer.

The 11th Annual Red Hot Holiday Ball, 12/15: Invite all your friends to one of our biggest annual events of the year! It's free for everyone, and includes a free beginner lesson from 8-9pm, free dancing from 9pm-midnight, raffles, and performances from GJS students and instructors and The Flower City Follies! 

End of the Year Celebration at Lindy Jam, 12/27: Come on out to our ballroom for the last Lindy Jam of the year! Wear something sparkly and come help us celebrate the start of 2018! Free Lindy Hop crash course at 9pm, dancing from 8:45-11pm. Admission is $5, or free if it's your first time or you bring a first-timer.

 

Drop-in Classes:

Shim Sham, 12/20: The most popular and well-known solo jazz choreography out there, Frankie Manning's Shim Sham is danced all over the world. This Lindy Hop line dance can be seen regularly at events and we'd love to have you join in! This class is a great intro to solo jazz dancing, and is open to everyone from first-timers to experienced Lindy Hop dancers. Preregister for $12, or drop in for $15.

Groove Juice Swing, established in 2004, is based in Rochester, NY and specializes in Lindy Hop, the original form of swing dance from the 1920s and 1930s. Groove Juice Swing offers dance classes, weekly social dances, live band dance events, performances, and dance workshops throughout the year. Staff members and instructors are passionate about all things Lindy Hop, traveling all over the world to compete against and learn from the very best Lindy Hoppers. They bring that same commitment and enthusiasm to the dance community in Rochester.
